Disk to Disk Onsite

For high speed, mission critical, enterprise disk to disk backup, WebHosting UK offers data storage on our EMC Symmetrix 8730 with 35 Terabytes of SAN storage via Web Hosting UK Datacenter backup solutions. This solution allows for fast recovery of data over a private network with raid level redundancy and 100% uptime availability. Our EMC disk to disk storage product is aggressively priced and easy to use for developers or enterprise clients seeking to minimize data loss. All data stored in the EMC also has the capability to backup to our L180 tape library giving enterprise clients a complete high availability backup solution.

Disk to Disk Offsite

For enterprise level data replication, WebHosting UK is proud to offer EMC Symmetrix Remote Data Facility/Data Mobility (SRDF/DM). SRDF enables businesses to easily replicate or move data from one Symmetrix information storage system to another without the use of dedicated servers. It provides platform-independent capabilities in multiple environments and is designed to assist users in meeting their e-business needs. Traditional data replication methods require dedicated server resources that are consumed in the management of everyday production processing and management of the dedicated server storage resources. Regular increases in dedicated server storage capacity decrease server bandwidth, which may result in production performance degradation. Users are left with the option of ongoing dedicated server acquisition to satisfy growing business needs. SRDF/DM eliminates the need for additional dedicated server purchases by offloading the replication process.

For smaller enterprise clients, WebHosting UK has partnered with our offsite tape storage facility to offer secure disk to disk storage over VPN or direct point to point connectivity. Our partner will backup your integral data to their SAN array located within their storage bunker. This can be achieved via a VPN connection over the web or from a point to point connection from our datacenter to the server storage bunker directly. This type of server storage allows for maximum security of data and fast disk to disk restoration from anywhere in the world. Backup schedules are custom designed for each customer and you only pay for the amount of space you backup during the month. The system is secure and offers the latest in high speed availability.

Disk to Tape

WebHosting UK offers stand alone direct attached DLT systems, along with a network attached tape systems including a Legato Tape backup solution (AIT) with a 40 bay tape library and Web Hosting UK Datacenter Tape backup solution (DLT) connected to a Sun L180 tape array.

WebHosting UK offers stand alone direct attached DLT systems for customers that need maximum security and customer owned media. Our technicians will manually rotate your tapes once you log into our online portal and fill out our automated reminder system. This system emails our NOC technicians when a tape rotation is due and must be acknowledge once the tape has been physically rotated. Our guarantee is simple, if we miss your manual tape rotation; your tape rotation service is free for the month.

The Legato Tape backup system is mounted to our internal network on a private IP scheme for all services located at WebHosting UK. This system is a cost effective shared tape system with high security. Our tapes are kept in a secure private suite and are rotated offsite when not in the tape robotic library. The Legato system can backup data according to the service you request at specified intervals (daily, weekly, monthly) and log into your dedicated server twice monthly to view disk space and verify data integrity. A small client loaded on the dedicated server allows the end user to restore at any moment by clicking on files and restore. Our NOC staff is available 24/7/365 for any questions concerning backup and restore.

Our enterprise tape backup system utilizes Web Hosting UK Datacenter and requires secondary NIC cards in each web server to connect to our private network. Our robotic tape library holds over 180 Ultrium DLT tapes with terabytes of capacity and is driven by multiple Sun 420r servers. The sky is the limit on options you may select. Cost effective tape backups can be achieved by sharing media with other clients (it’s secure of course) or you can purchase your own tape media to place into our robotic library. Either way, the outcome produces a reliable tape arching system. Offsite tape storage is available coupled with disaster recovery options that allow for cold/hot practice restores. Dedicated Server Remote Backup

WebHosting UK currently uses Veritas Datacenter to backup all customers locally and remotely into a centralized Sun L180 robotic tape library that houses 180 high speed DLT tapes with six DLT tape machines. Connection from your office to the tape library located inside our datacenter can occur via VPN over the web or via direct point to point loops from your location to ours (T1, T3, and OC3 available). Just load the Veritas client on your servers and desktops and point and click the files you want to backup. Our backup administrators will manage your backup solution remotely from our NOC located in Dallas Texas. You will be notified daily of the success or failure of all backup procedures.
